He had his primary schooling in Ratanbai School in Mulund. In this school, his teacher was Shri Jinabhai Desai. In those days there was no practice of separate periods for different subjects and having separate teachers for separate subjects. Only one teacher used to teach all the subjects. Shri Jinabhai used to spent his last half and hour to forty-five minutes of time in telling stories from Greatest Epic Mahabharata to students. He used to present these stories in highly interesting manner. In addition to telling stories to students, he also used to give students an opportunity to tell stories. The stories which Haribhai used to listen from his mother came handy during this time. At the same time Haribhai used to represent stories he heard from the school to his parents and neighbors. Thus he got a natural training of listening and speaking. |

He had his middle level schooling from Sheth Moti Bhai Panchan Rashtriya Shala (SMPRS) Mulund. Here he got lot of encouragement from two teachers Shri Sudhir Rana and Shri Narotam Vyas. While first one's music and natural sense of humour touched him, later's simplicity and dedication for study impressed him. The entire environment at school was family like and personal attention was the specialty of that time. During 1952-53, when Haribhai was in seventh standard, around 300 students from various schools of Mumbai had come for picnic to Mulund (In those days Mulund was considered as Hill Station of Mumbai). A function was orgainsed for these students at Balrajeshwar Temple where different students gave performances on their different skills on Poems, songs, ghazals music, stories, sayari, etc. At that time one of the organiser felt that even students from Host suburb Mulund should also take part. Then, Haribhai got up and told a story "Satyavrat" in about 10-15 minutes. Everybody who listened to this story was impressed by this young boy's clarity and presentation skills. This was Haribhai's first exposure in giving a speech in public and it proved highly satisfactory. As there was no hi-school at Mulund at that time, he had his higher education at Ramji Asher School, Ghatokpar in Mumbai. There Shri Raval Sir created love in him for Sanskrit language. In this school there was other teacher by the name Shri Navneet Shah , who created interest in him for Gujarati Literature and also encouraged him to write. Haribhai feels that encouragement and guidance given by Navneetbhai is helpful to him even today. |

Career
|
After graduating in 1961 Haribhai had two options, one to join his father's wool business and two dedicate his life for cultural activities. Since his father too had great love and faith in Dharma and Indian Culture, he left the choice of career on Haribhai himself. Haribhai discussed the matter with the other people whom he respected. After discussion he realised that one can be a part of good activities also by earning lot of money and then spending in on good cause. But at the same time he also felt that there is no shortage of rich and people, who donate for good activities. Therefore there was no pointing in doing one more addition this list. He felt that there was a shortage of people who puts noble thoughts towards society with pure heart and with total dedication. He felt that is why Swami Vivekand had asked for Nachiketas and not rich people. Hence he felt it is more important to dedicate life towards this end than spending it in earning money. This was also suited to his nature. He felt that he can get the required experience and scope for his this goal in the field of education. Therefore he decided to become a teacher and took a B. Ed degree. Between 1962 and 1966 he taught at V. L. High School Nalia in Kutch district of India. Then between 1966 and 1970 he taught at Ghayan Sarita High School at Mulund in Mumbai. Then, between 1970 and 1976 he taught at K. J. Somaiya College, Ghatkopar in Mumbai. |
